The folks at Team Asobi have been hard at work creating a full-fledged adventure for Astro Bot, which will arrive on September 6. Along with it comes an Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller, unveiled today. Carefully crafted by the teams at Sony Interactive Entertainment, the special controller features Astro’s signature blue accents on the handles and buttons, carved-in sci-fi lines, and a trademark pair of eyes on the touch pad. It’s one of the best-looking DualSense controllers we’ve ever seen, and we wish PlayStation would do more cool collaborations on controller designs like Xbox does.

The controller will be available for preorder starting on August 9 at 7:00am Pacific (10:00am Eastern) in the U.S. In other markets, including the U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal, preorders will begin on the same date but at 10:00am local time. Interested buyers should check direct.playstation.com and select retailers. Available in limited quantities, the Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense costs $79.99 (€79.99 / £69.99 / ¥11,980) and launches on the same date as the game, September 6.

If you’re unfamiliar with Astro Bot, Astro’s Playroom is a game that launched with the PlayStation 5, serving as a sequel to Astro Bot Rescue Mission. It comes preinstalled on every console and basically serves as a tech demo for all the cool things the DualSense controller can do. The game quickly became a favorite among platforming fans, and Team Asobi has significantly expanded on the formula with the upcoming Astro Bot. The game was originally announced during May’s State of Play and could be one of the best first-party titles from PlayStation in 2024.
