For those of you who still remember that Anthem exists, the 2019 BioWare title will finally reach the end of service on January 12, 2026. That means players will be able to continue playing the game for the remainder of the year, and as of today, they will no longer be able to purchase in-game premium currency. They can, however, use their remaining balance until the servers go offline. Unfortunately, since Anthem was designed to be an online-only title, once the servers go offline on January 12, 2026, no one will be able to play the game. So yes, owners of the game won’t be able to access it after that date. The game will also be removed from the EA Play playlist on August 15, 2025.

In a bit of a dystopian move, publisher EA added an FAQ to clarify that the sunsetting of Anthem has not led to any layoffs. It’s telling of the state of the gaming industry that a company has to clarify that no one was laid off as a result of a business decision. Then again, BioWare endured a round of layoffs in January, which gutted much of the studio.
