When I last wrote about Ananta, I said the game looked wild, especially for a free-to-play title that seemed to borrow bits and pieces from Marvel’s Spider-Man, Sleeping Dogs, Grand Theft Auto, and Yakuza. Nearly a year later, Naked Rain has finally returned with another look at the urban open-world RPG and, more importantly, a release date. Ananta launches January 15, 2027.
The new trailer debuted during Gamescom Opening Night Live and expands the game’s setting beyond Nova City. The story will also take players to Lingyun City in Chongxiao, with players assembling a squad and traveling between the two locations while uncovering whatever is happening behind the scenes.
Naked Rain is still putting a lot of emphasis on simply living in these cities as well. The trailer shows more of the different lifestyles players can experience alongside the main story, continuing the high degree of freedom we saw in last year’s lengthy gameplay trailer. That footage showed everything from street racing and spying on people’s phones to petting cats and swinging between buildings.
I said at the time that Ananta initially looked like yet another Genshin Impact-style game before its gameplay reveal showed something much more ambitious. The new footage continues to lean into that open-ended city-life approach, with Nova City and Lingyun City giving players two very different places to explore when the game arrives next year.
Ananta launches January 15, 2027 for PlayStation 5, PC, Android, and iOS. Pre-registration is available now, while PC players can wishlist the game on Steam.
