Remedy Entertainment and Kinetic Games have announced Phasmophobia by Alan Wake, a limited-time in-game event that pulls the world of Alan Wake 2 into Phasmophobia. Revealed during the Galaxies Showcase on Twitch, it marks the first-ever crossover event for Phasmophobia and will run from May 12 through June 2 on all platforms.

During the event, elements of Alan Wake 2 begin seeping into Phasmophobia’s investigations, introducing new supernatural encounters and reshaping familiar locations. The studios have not detailed specific maps or ghost types yet, but Kinetic Games confirmed that its art team has been working to capture the atmosphere of some of Alan Wake 2’s most iconic locations.

“Working with Remedy has been an incredible experience, and the way these two worlds overlap has opened up some unsettling possibilities that we’re excited for players to explore,” said Daniel Knight, CEO of Kinetic Games. “It’s a natural crossover, and our art team has been hard at work capturing the atmosphere of Alan Wake 2, bringing the essence of some of the game’s iconic locations into Phasmophobia. We can’t wait for fans of both games to see what the event has in store on May 12.”

Remedy Creative Director Sam Lake framed the collaboration as a meeting of two horror sensibilities. “There are many fans of Phasmophobia at Remedy, so it was a thrilling opportunity to bring these two horror worlds together,” Lake said. “It was a joy to write for this collaboration. As Alan Wake writes a new manuscript in the depths of the Dark Place, the paranormal investigators of Phasmophobia find themselves trapped in a horror story. Our two twisted worlds amplify each other perfectly.”

Phasmophobia puts teams of up to four players in the role of paranormal investigators, using ghost-hunting equipment to gather evidence across haunted locations. Since launching in Early Access in 2020, it has sold more than 27 million copies. Earlier this year, Kinetic Games shared its 2025 roadmap, outlining major updates including the Horror 2.0 overhaul and map reworks. It’s a game we really enjoy playing as a group from time to time.

Alan Wake 2 launched in October 2023 and has continued to receive support from Remedy, including The Final Draft update that added New Game Plus, the Night Springs expansion, and a free Anniversary Update. In our Alan Wake 2 review, we found the game approaches the threshold of a masterpiece but stops just short of crossing it.

Phasmophobia by Alan Wake is available from May 12 to June 2. More details will be shared closer to launch.

Phasmophobia is currently available in Early Access on PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Alan Wake 2 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
