The roguelite city builder Against the Storm is set to leave Early Access on December 8, 2023. This engaging dark fantasy city builder tasks players with rebuilding civilization amidst apocalyptic rains. Players assume the role of the Queen’s Viceroy, leading diverse species like humans, beavers, lizards, foxes, and harpies to reclaim the wilderness.

For the game’s 1.0 release, developer Eremite Games is introducing Queen’s Hand Trial, a new mode tailored for experienced Viceroys. In this mode, players have a single Cycle to reforge the Adamantine Seal, marking the game’s most challenging endeavor. Permadeath is present at every step of the new mode. That means abandoning the settlement is a loss condition. Failure to reforge the Seal in time results in failure.

If you like city builders and roguelite elements, I highly recommend Against the Storm, especially since it will also be available on PC Game Pass on December 8. Having spent several hours playing it during its Early Access phase, I find Against the Storm to be a gem of a game and am eager to further explore it once it officially releases.
