One of my favorite racing series of all time is making a surprise return in 2025 with Tokyo Xtreme Racer. As a lifelong car enthusiast who began his career in the automotive industry loving Japanese sport compacts, the Tokyo Xtreme Racer franchise really captured the car culture I fell in love with. They may not be the best racing games or the most realistic, but they were some of the best for arcade-style drift racing.

The newest entry, the first series title in 18 years, is described as a “racing game set in a blocked-off future Tokyo, where players aim to be the fastest by driving their best cars on the highways that weave through the city.” Little else about the game has been shared so far, except that it will be coming soon to Steam. Check out the trailer below.
