During today’s Nintendo Direct, Super Mario Bros. Wonder made its debut as the first new installment in the side-scrolling Super Mario Bros. series in over 10 years. Set to launch October 20, 2023, Super Mario Bros. Wonder marks a return to 2D and in this new installment, players can touch a Wonder Flower to unlock the wonders of the world. For example, pipes can come alive or hordes of enemies can appear. Characters can even change their looks, which transforms gameplay in unpredictable ways. The trailer also shows Mario’s newest powerup that transforms him into Elephant Mario.
The game features Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, and Yoshi as playable characters. Stay tuned for more details on the newest 2D side-scrolling Mario game to be shared at a later date. Preorders begin today at the Nintendo eShop and in the My Nintendo Store section of Nintendo.com.
