Almost 10 years to the day after the original release of Reus, developer Abbey Games and publisher Firesquid have announced Reus 2. The original game, released on May 16, 2013, sold over one million units worldwide. It featured a unique gameplay loop in which players controlled powerful giants to shape the planet according to their will. In the sequel, players will once again control giants, but this time, they can expect the giants to do more than just nurture planets for humanity’s benefit. Reus 2 will also explore the fate of humanity by allowing players to create multiple planets and explore how different human tribes react to the world that has been shaped specifically for them.
Reus 2 will also let players plan and discover strategic synergies within ecosystems, biomes, and between giants. As players progress, they’ll discover more and more ways to bring life to their planets. The game is currently under development and does not yet have a release date.
“The original Reus is a decade old, and much has changed in the gaming world. We’re excited to bring Reus 2 to this new era, and show what it can bring to all those who want to create their own perfect world!” says Maarten Wiedenhof, Manuel Kerssemakers, and Adriaan Jansen, the three founders of Abbey Games.
