The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series will arrive on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on April 19, 2023. Of course, the PlayStation 4 version will also work on the PlayStation 5, but don’t expect any specific enhancements. Featuring the original six Final Fantasy games, the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is currently available on PC and mobile, but many have been waiting patiently for its console release. Sporting beautiful new 2D pixel graphics and rearranged soundtracks overseen by original composer Nobuo Uematsu, this is likely the best way to experience Final Fantasy I through Final Fantasy VI.

You will be able to purchase each game individually or as a collection, and there are some features heading to the console version that aren’t currently found on the PC and mobile versions. The PlayStation and Switch versions of Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster will allow players to change soundtracks between the new orchestral arrangements and the original versions, as well as the ability to choose from two different fonts — a default font and a new pixel-based font that recreates the feel of the original games. The font was one of the biggest complaints gamers had with the PC and mobile releases.

Square Enix has also added the ability to turn off random encounters so you can freely explore, and the ability to adjust experience if you want a quicker playthrough the game. The boost feature lets you receive up to four times the experience in battle.

Those who purchase the game on Switch before May 25, 2023 will receive two themed wallpapers for each individual game. If you get the entire bundle, you’ll receive a dozen wallpapers. PlayStation buyers will receive a theme and avatar for each title purchased.
