Bethesda has announced the first official release date for Starfield — September 6, 2023 — and hopefully it’ll be the only release date for Starfield. Nowadays, it’s so common for major games to get delayed that we can’t help but poke some fun that Starfield will ultimately get another release date. Keep in mind, September 6 falls outside Starfield’s originally planned “first half of 2023” release, so technically it’s already been delayed once. But hopefully this date is set in stone, as this game has been baking in the oven for quite some time now. Remember, it was first announced at E3 2018.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard shared details about an upcoming “Starfield Direct” event that will take place on June 11, where him and his team will share more details and information about the upcoming game. It’s the first new universe in 25 years from the studio that has created some of the most immersive worlds in gaming history with The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. This is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of the year, and it’s a crowded year with Diablo IV, Street Fighter VI, and Final Fantasy XVI, just in the month of June.

At its launch, Starfield will be exclusive to the Xbox Series X|S and PC. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to play it day one on the service.
