Today, PlayStation is officially celebrating its 30th North American birthday, as the original PlayStation launched on September 9, 1995. Over the years, the platform has delivered some of gaming’s best exclusives, but you might be surprised to hear which games are the best-selling PlayStation titles of all time in the U.S. Circana has shared two lists of the all-time best-selling PlayStation games in the U.S.: one by dollars and another by units.

Unsurprisingly, Grand Theft Auto V tops both the dollars and units lists, while another Rockstar Games title, Red Dead Redemption II, ranks third on both. In terms of dollars, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) takes second place, while Minecraft holds that slot on the units list. While we all know Call of Duty is a very successful franchise, it’s a bit eye-opening just how successful it has been on PlayStation. On the dollars list, 11 of the 20 spots go to Call of Duty titles, while nine appear on the unit-sales list. Seeing this data explains why the series continues to see annual releases.

For some, the most interesting part of both lists is the general lack of console exclusives. In terms of dollars, only Marvel’s Spider-Man (11), Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (18), and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (19) make an appearance. First-party games are more prevalent on the unit-sales list, with Marvel’s Spider-Man (6), Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (12), The Last of Us (13), and God of War (2018) (14) finding their way onto the chart.
