Last month, Helldivers 2 received a surprise announcement, with an Xbox Series X|S launch slated for August 26. Published by PlayStation, Helldivers 2 has enjoyed success on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC, and was largely expected to stay on those platforms. Well, now we know what Xbox offered to convince PlayStation to bring it over to Xbox Series X|S: A Halo collaboration.

Coinciding with the Xbox Series X|S launch is the Helldivers 2 x Halo: ODST Legendary Warbond, which goes live August 26 at 5:00 AM Pacific (8:00 AM Eastern). Legendary Warbond is a new tier in the lineup, signaling something special for this long-requested crossover. In true Helldivers 2 fashion, ODST stands for The Obedient Democracy Support Troopers, and the new equipment set gives Helldivers the look of a Spartan.

Iconic weapons include the MA5C assault rifle, M6C/SOCOM pistol, M90A shotgun, and M7S SMG. Two armor sets will be available: A-9 Helljumper and A-35 Recon. The first puts players in the boots of a legendary lance corporal who served in the ODST, while the A-35 is a sleeker, stealthier version of the A-9 with a helmet Halo: ODST fans will recognize. Both armor sets grant the passive boost Feet First, reducing movement noise, increasing the range for finding points of interest by 30 percent, and granting immunity to leg injuries. As for capes, the Honored Heirloom is emblazoned with the ODST logo, while the Eye of the Clandestine is more subtle.

The Helldivers 2 x Halo: ODST Legendary Warbond will cost 1,500 Super Credits, up from previous Warbond tiers at 1,000. Arrowhead Game Studios also said Legendary Warbonds aren’t compatible with the new Premium Warbond Token launching August 26. So if you’re interested in the ODST gear, make sure you have enough Super Credits.
