The developer behind Beat Saber, Beat Games, has announced it will no longer release updates for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 starting this month. In fact, no new content will be released on PlayStation consoles starting today. The game will still be available for purchase on PlayStation, and it will remain accessible along with any songs or music packs purchased before June 18. The biggest news, though, is that starting on January 21, 2026, multiplayer will no longer be available in Beat Saber on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. However, cross-buy will remain active between the two consoles.
For those wondering why this is happening, Beat Games is actually owned by Meta. Essentially, Meta primarily wants Beat Saber support to continue only on its Quest headsets, making it exclusive to that platform. It’s one of the most successful VR games ever created and continues to top the PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR2 charts each month. For now, support for the PC version will continue, so PlayStation VR2 owners with a capable PC might want to pick up a copy on SteamVR with an adapter.
