Double Fine Productions, the team behind the Psychonauts franchise, has finally revealed its next game, Keeper. Launching on October 17, 2025, on Xbox Series X|S and PC, Keeper is a third-person adventure-puzzle game that tells a story without words. Under the direction of Lee Petty, Keeper has players embark on a heartening tale when a long-forgotten lighthouse is awakened and joined by a spirited seabird. It’s a story of unlikely companionship during an unexpected journey into realms beyond comprehension, all set in a post-human world.

As Keeper’s creative lead, Lee Petty has been part of Double Fine since he joined as art director for Brütal Legend. He’s also credited on Broken Age and Psychonauts 2, and has served as creative lead on multiple games including Stacking, Headlander, and RAD. Those who have played any of Lee Petty’s titles will likely see some influences in Keeper.

The idea behind the game started in 2020 when the global pandemic and lockdown forced Lee to wander the hills and trails near his home on quiet hikes. He began to ponder what would be next for life on Earth if humanity’s time came to an end. Keeper took shape as Lee dwelled on the topic of isolation and companionship. Expect a reality-bending experience full of surprise, and it’s one game I’m excited to play this October.
