Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Launches October 30

Square Enix has announced that Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake launches on October 30, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, and PC. The release date announcement comes on the game’s 39th anniversary, as the original Dragon Quest was released in Japan on May 27, 1986—dubbed Dragon Quest Day. The remake of these two classic RPGs follows up on last year’s Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, which chronologically takes place before Dragon Quest I and Dragon Quest II. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake quickly sold over two million units, marking just how popular the franchise is worldwide.

The three titles make up the Erdrick Trilogy and have received full makeovers in the HD-2D graphical style, along with new story content and gameplay updates to tie all three of them together. In Dragon Quest I and Dragon Quest II, players take on the role of the descendants of Erdrick, following the events of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.

For those who want to experience all three games, Square Enix is going to offer a digital-only compilation titled Dragon Quest HD-2D Erdrick Trilogy Collection on October 30, which includes Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake and Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake in one definitive set for $99.99.

In addition, the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Collector’s Edition is now available for preorder with a retail price of $149.99. It includes the following:
