Gamers love surprises and we had quite a few last month. After weeks of rumors, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was announced and released on the same day, April 22. That was a mere two days before the wonderful Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released, which has already sold over one million units. Still, it’s clear Oblivion Remastered dominated the charts for the month of April, although Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has really benefitted from word of mouth and stellar user reviews. In fact, some would say the turn-based RPG has stolen a bit of Oblivion Remastered’s thunder, and not the other way around.
PlayStation Store’s April 2025 top downloads also show why Xbox ultimately made the right decision by going cross-platform with its first-party games. In the EU on PlayStation 5, Forza Horizon 5 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered top the charts, followed by Minecraft, which is owned by Microsoft. In the U.S. and Canada, Oblivion Remastered, Minecraft, and Forza Horizon 5 were the top three titles of the month for PlayStation 5.
As for PlayStation 4 gamers, Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to dominate in the U.S., Canada, and the EU. In the U.S. and Canada, the Devil May Cry HD Collection and Minecraft round out the top three, while in the EU, Minecraft and A Way Out are the second and third most-downloaded games.
The PlayStation VR2 saw Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate topping the charts in the U.S., Canada, and the EU, while Fortnite remains the undisputed champion of free-to-play games on both consoles.
