As expected, the annual Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event has revealed the new Galaxy S25 series devices. Unsurprisingly, the focus was on Galaxy AI as the devices introduce multimodal AI agents and are the first step in the brand’s vision to change the way users interact with their phone. The S25 devices are powered by a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy chipset, which Samsung claims is designed to provide greater on-device processing power for Galaxy AI and superior camera range and control with Galaxy’s next-gen ProVisual Engine.
As for the focus on AI, the multimodal AI agents enable the Galaxy S25 devices to interpret text, speech, images, and videos for interactions that feel natural. There have also been upgrades to Google’s Circle to Search, as it now quickly recognizes phone numbers, emails, and URLs. The S25 also promises to deliver a breakthrough in natural language understanding, if you’re one to speak to your phone often. Also, these new devices introduce post-quantum cryptography to help safeguard personal data against emerging threats.
While the overabundance of marketing that centers around AI isn’t particularly interesting to gamers, the Galaxy S25 series is powered by the most powerful processor ever in the Galaxy S series. Samsung says the Snapdragon 8 Elite delivers a performance boost of 40 percent in NPU, 37 percent in CPU, and 30 percent in GPU compared to the previous generation. It’s also equipped with Vulkan Engine and improved Ray Tracing, which contributes to smoother and more realistic mobile gaming.
For those most interested in the camera, the S25 gets a new 50-megapixel ultrawide camera sensor, an upgrade from the previous 12-megapixel. For video, 10-bit HDR recording is applied by default, which is an upgrade from the previous 8-bit. Other features focused on video and photo capture include Audio Eraser, which makes it easy to remove unwanted noise from videos, Virtual Aperture for depth-of-field control, and Galaxy Log that enables precise color grading options.
All Samsung Galaxy S25 devices will come with six months of Gemini Advanced and 2TB of cloud storage at no extra cost. As usual, they will be available in three options: Galaxy S25 (6.2-inch FHD+), Galaxy S25+ (6.7-inch QHD+), and Galaxy S25 Ultra (6.9-inch QHD+). The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ are available in Navy, Silver Shadow, Icyblue, and Mint. The Galaxy S25 Ultra comes in Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Black, Titanium Whitesilver, and Titanium Gray.
