Ahead of its February 28, 2025 launch, Monster Hunter Wilds is hosting an open beta test from October 31 at 8:00pm Pacific (11:00pm Eastern) to November 3 at 6:59pm Pacific (9:59pm Eastern) on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. However, PlayStation Plus subscribers get a head start, with access opening on October 28 at 8:00 p.m. Pacific (11:00 p.m. Eastern). The open beta announcement came alongside a new trailer showing off the Oilwell Basin territory and the newly revealed Brute Wyvern Rompopolo.

Participants in the open beta test will receive a Pendant to decorate their weapons or Seikret mount, along with a helpful item pack in the full release of the game. The open beta test will offer three distinct experiences, starting with the complete character creation tool. Players can take as much time as they want creating their character, as the data will be transferable to the full game. The second experience is a Story Trial where players will experience the opening cutscene of the game and basic tutorials while hunting down a Chatacabra. The final experience is the free-roaming Doshaguma Hunt where players can explore the Windward Plains and pursue the Alpha of a Doshaguma pack. Both hunts can be done solo or with up to a party of four by using an SOS flare.
