Caves of Qud, which is on PC Gamer’s list of the top 100 PC games, is finally exiting Early Access on December 5, 2024. The traditional roguelike has been in development for over 15 years, receiving hundreds of updates during that time. This year, it received an entire interface revamp to make it much more approachable and easier to play, while the 1.0 update will add a beginner tutorial so players can understand the basics of the game before embarking on their first journey. The game’s 1.0 release also adds the highly anticipated final quest in the main storyline, along with an ending to the game.
Those who have been on the journey throughout Caves of Qud’s development can also look forward to several new music tracks, sound effects, and items being added for its release. There are also a lot of bug fixes and small feature improvements.
With the announcement for Caves of Qud’s official release date, developer Freehold Games and publisher Kitfox Games have confirmed pricing will increase to $29.99 USD on October 29. If you’re interested, now is the best time to purchase the game as it’s a Steam Daily Deal for $16.99 USD, making it the lowest price it will ever be. The game is also getting the Dromad Deluxe Edition for launch, which includes the base game, the newly enhanced soundtrack, and a Pet DLC pack featuring in-game companions that were once exclusive to the developer’s Patreon, along with an all-new pet.
Caves of Qud is a science-fantasy RPG and roguelike epic where players can build any character they can dream of, with over 70 mutations and dozens of cybernetic implants. The game is available on Steam, itch.io, and GOG.
