The next entry in the popular Monster Hunter franchise, Monster Hunter Wilds, is scheduled for global release on February 28, 2025. Capcom revealed the game’s fourth trailer during today’s State of Play, showcasing the flagship monster, Arkveld. Shrouded in mystery, Arkveld belongs to a long-extinct species and features uniquely shaped, chain-like wings. As with previous Monster Hunter games and their flagship monsters, Arkveld serves as the catalyst for the events that begin Monster Hunter Wilds’ story.
In Monster Hunter Wilds, players become part of the Avis Unit within the Forbidden Lands Research Commission. Each unit consists of three people and everyone’s favorite companion: a Hunter, a Handler, a Smithy, and a Palico. Another prominent unit in the game is Astrum Unit, which features Erik, a biologist, Werner, an engineer, and Olivia, a Research Commission member. Today’s announcement also revealed details on fishing, allowing players to bait prey with lures. It can be “relaxing”—or at least as relaxing as anything in a Monster Hunter game can be.
Digital preorders are available today, with bonuses including the Guild Knight Set, the Talisman Hope Charm as in-game items, and the Monster Hunter Wilds Digital Mini Art Book as a PlayStation Store exclusive. Monster Hunter Wilds will also be available in a Deluxe Edition that includes the Deluxe Pack, featuring a variety of cosmetic DLC and sticker sets. Finally, there’s a Premium Deluxe Edition that includes the previous bonuses and a Cosmetic DLC Pass consisting of three DLC packs releasing by summer 2025.
