Today, Nintendo hosted its first-ever back-to-back Indie World Showcase and Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase presentations. The Indie World Showcase featured a dozen games and a montage of six more, with a total of 18 titles making an appearance. If you missed today’s Indie World Showcase, here is a summary of everything that was shown.

Pizza Tower

The hit game Pizza Tower finally arrives on Nintendo Switch today. It’s a fast-paced, platforming adventure focused on movement, exploration, and trying to set the highest score possible. The game stars Peppino Spaghetti, who must destroy Pizza Tower to save his restaurant from annihilation. Featuring highly stylized 2D pixel art inspired by 1990s cartoons, Pizza Tower is a must-play if you’re a fan of 2D platformers.

Balatro: Friends of Jimbo

Surprise hit of the year Balatro is getting a free update called Friends of Jimbo. The popular roguelike deckbuilder gets cards from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Vampire Survivors, Dave the Diver, and Among Us. It’s basically a giant collaboration event and it’ll launch on Nintendo Switch today.

Coffee Talk Tokyo

Coffee Talk Tokyo

Coffee Talk is back and its next installment is taking players to Tokyo. The new visual novel has players taking on the role of a barista in a late-night coffee shop in Tokyo. Listen to the stories of your customers while serving them comforting drinks and enjoying the original lo-fi soundtrack by series composer Andrew Jeremy. Coffee Talk Tokyo launches sometime in 2025.

PowerWash Simulator – Shrek Special Pack DLC

PowerWash Simulator - Shrek Special Pack DLC

PowerWash Simulator fans, you’re getting the Shrek Special Pack DLC featuring five fairy tale maps from the Shrek universe. The paid DLC will let players wash down Shrek’s very own swamp, the Dragon’s Lair, and other iconic locations. The mini-campaign can be taken on solo, with a friend in online co-op, or with up to six players in Free Play. The DLC also includes a shiny suit of armor with a new knight-themed character model. Look for it to launch in fall 2024.

Peglin

Peglin

Peglin arrives on the Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive today. It’s a roguelike pachinko-inspired RPG where players aim orbs and hit pegs, dealing damage in turn-based battles. Progression includes upgrading a variety of orbs, while the pegs themselves can also have unique properties and rare power-ups. Peglin is also available on Steam, where it’s garnered a Very Positive rating with over 10,000 user reviews.

Morsels

Morsels

One of the more interesting games from today’s Indie World Showcase, Morsels drops players into the role of a mouse that gains the ability to transform into mighty little monsters called Morsels. With these new powers, players will set off to fight against the evil forces of predatory cats, collecting Morsels along the way and learning when to strategically transform into them to use their unique abilities. Look for Morsels to launch in February 2025.

Wobbly Life

Wobbly Life

Wobbly Life is an open-world physics sandbox game that looks similar to Human Fall Flat. In Wobbly Life, players choose from over 50 unique missions and jobs, earning in-game cash to spend on over 90 vehicles and 250 clothing items. The game offers online and local co-op with another player and launches on Nintendo Switch in December 2024.

Date Everything!

Date Everything!

In a world where Hatoful Boyfriend is a success comes Date Everything!, a sandbox dating simulator. With 100 characters ranging from household objects to appliances, players can finally fulfill their fantasies of dating a lamp, or something like that. I’m not really sure what world we live in anymore. Date Everything! launches on Nintendo Switch on October 24.

Neva

Neva

The developers behind GRIS are readying their next game, Neva. This emotionally-charged action adventure game tells the story of Alba, a young woman who is bound to Neva, a young wolf cub. Together, they’ll go on a dangerous journey through a world that is falling into decay. Initially, Alba will have to take care of Neva, but as their journey progresses, Neva will become the protector of both. Look for Neva to launch on October 15 on Nintendo Switch.

Sea of Stars – Throes of the Watchmaker DLC

Sea of Stars - Throes of the Watchmaker DLC

The fantastic Sea of Stars is getting a free DLC called Throes of the Watchmaker. Set in a miniature clockwork world, players get to revisit Valere and Zale as they try to stop a cursed carnival. It’s a bit reminiscent of Chrono Trigger’s opening, which isn’t surprising considering how much of an inspiration it is for Sea of Stars. In the DLC, Zale becomes a skillful juggler and Valere becomes an acrobat. The two are joined by a new character named Arty. Throes of the Watchmaker is currently slated to launch in spring 2025.

Moth Kubit

Moth Kubit

Ever wanted to climb the corporate ladder of an insect mega corporation? You’ll have your chance in Moth Kubit when it launches in spring 2025. This surreal RPG has gamers playing as Moth Kubit, who recently earned a promotion. Set in a bizarre world filled with secrets to unearth, Moth Kubit focuses on the threat of a sinister event called the “Final Process.” With multiple dialogue choices that impact the game’s ending, players will want to pay close attention when making their decisions.

PICO PARK 2

PICO PARK 2

PICO PARK gets a sequel, featuring over 60 new levels full of ledges, cliffs, and other obstacles. The timing for PICO PARK 2 couldn’t be better, given the recent popularity of Chained Together. Launching today on the Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive, PICO PARK 2 is an action-puzzle platformer that supports up to eight players working together via local play or online multiplayer. The world, endless, and battle modes are back, joined by an all-new dark mode where you’ll really put your skills and friendships to the test.

The Plucky Squire

The Plucky Squire

The more I see from The Plucky Squire, the more I’m convinced it’s going to be a surprise hit. It’s an action-adventure game where storybook characters flip between 2D and 3D worlds to solve puzzles and take on baddies. It launches on September 17 and will also be available on PlayStation Plus at launch.

More Shovel Knight content is coming our way next year. Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX is an enhanced edition of the platforming classic, featuring 20 playable characters, seamless online multiplayer, and other new features.

Launching on November 21, On Your Tail is a story-driven life sim starring young detective Diana, who is working to unmask the thief causing trouble in a charming seaside town.

Cuisineer

Yet another roguelite, Cuisineer looks to blend dungeon crawling with fast-paced restaurant management into an interesting, tasty mix. Might be the perfect game for those who are watching Delicious in Dungeon.

The Metal Slug series gets a roguelite tactical spinoff, Metal Slug Tactics, set to launch this fall.

Europa

This 3D action platformer currently has a free demo and is slated to launch on October 11. The game lets players glide, fly, and boost across breathtaking landscapes.
