GOG Galaxy has announced that it will delete cloud save files that exceed the default allocation limit of 200MB per game after August 31, 2024. The platform is reminding users to review their cloud save files before August 31 and download any that exceed the 200MB limit. Naturally, any save files stored locally on your computer will not be affected.
Storage for cloud saves is being limited so that all players on GOG Galaxy have access to space while keeping costs manageable. GOG Galaxy says the move helps continue providing a reliable and user-friendly platform for everyone. For those who may have cloud saves that exceed the 200MB limit, you’ll want to back up those saves directly to GOG Galaxy and then ensure your saved data is safely on your local machine. Afterward, you can delete any unnecessary files or old saves.
After August 31, 2024, GOG Galaxy will begin deleting files from its cloud storage service, starting with unnecessary files. It will then remove save game files, starting with the oldest, and will stop once the remaining files fit the allocation limit.
