There was a time when many doubted Dead Island 2 would ever be released, and if it were, they feared it would be in a terrible state. However, Dambuster Studios proved everyone wrong when Dead Island 2 was released in April of last year. Not only was the game playable, but it also proved to be a solid entry in an oversaturated genre. The game quickly sold over one million units after its launch, and recently, the developer revealed that Dead Island 2 has had over 7 million players and that a staggering 24 billion zombies have been slain. Many of these players likely came from Xbox Game Pass, although Dead Island 2 is not available on PC Game Pass.

The game recently introduced its second story expansion, SoLA, and it was finally released on Steam after a period of exclusivity on the Epic Games Store. The post, celebrating a year of Dead Island 2, indicates that Dambuster Studios has more planned: “In the following months we’ll share some exciting and long awaited new game updates, so stay tuned for more Dead Island 2 content to come!”

Dead Island 2 was originally released on April 21, 2023, and is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
