With 22 million units sold in 2023, Hogwarts Legacy was a massive sales success but a game that was ultimately overshadowed by a very crowded field of 2023 releases. On February 8, the game celebrated its anniversary, and the development team at Avalanche Software shared a blooper reel showcasing humorous moments during the game’s development.

“This contains spoilers and old in-development footage with cut/altered content & designs,” the video opens up with a disclaimer. “All footage was captured by the developers throughout the development of Hogwarts Legacy. Game development is hard… this is for entertainment purposes only.”

Some of these bugs are funny, while others are downright frightening, showcasing the unpredictable nature of game development. It’s also always entertaining to see ragdoll physics gone wrong. We really hope more developers and studios release this type of content; it’s fascinating to see some of the bugs that occur during development. Yes, there’s also a joke in here somewhere that many developers already do this, just in their release version of their games.
