HBO’s The Last of Us has announced Kaitlyn Dever as the actor for Abby Anderson in Season 2. Dever faces the unenviable task of bringing the controversial character to life. Interestingly, fans of the game had originally lobbied for Dever to play Ellie, due to her resemblance to the in-game character. The role of Ellie eventually went to Bella Ramsey.
A Golden Globe and Emmy nominee, Dever is known for roles in Last Man Standing, Dopesick, Unbelievable, Justified, among others. She also has connections to Naughty Dog, having appeared in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End as Cassie, Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher’s daughter.
The Last of Us Season 2 doesn’t have an official release date, but to arrive sometime in 2025.
“Our casting process for season two has been identical to season one: we look for world-class actors who embody the souls of the characters in the source material,” said the show’s co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann in a joint statement. “Nothing matters more than talent, and we’re thrilled to have an acclaimed performer like Kaitlyn join Pedro, Bella and the rest of our family.”
