In September, THQ Nordic, the publisher of Alone in the Dark, announced a delay of the game’s release to January 16, 2024. The game is now getting another delay, pushing the release to March 20, 2024. According to THQ Nordic, the main reason for the delay is to avoid any potential crunch over the Christmas holidays. In addition, developers Pieces Interactive wants to ensure the game exceeds the expectations of the community, especially with Hollywood stars David Harbour and Jodie Comer as the main protagonists in the title.

“The year is coming to an end, and the Christmas Holidays are upon us,” reads the statement released on THQ Nordic’s website. “However, until today, it didn’t seem that way for Pieces Interactive, the team developing our upcoming survival-horror game, Alone in the Dark. With our initially planned release date in January 2024, the Christmas season would have been filled with stress and anything but a jolly time for them.”

For those unfamiliar, Alone in the Dark serves as a homage to the original, groundbreaking game. Players will experience a haunting story, choosing to play as one of two protagonists: Edward Carnby (David Harbour) or Emily Hartwood (Jodie Comer). This reimagined classic is described as a blend of Psychological Horror and Southern Gothic. The new release date for Alone in the Dark is March 20, 2024, and it will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
