In spring 2024, Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan will undergo a 70 percent expansion with the opening of the Donkey Kong Country section. This new area will feature Mine-Cart Madness, a family rollercoaster designed to simulate jumping across track gaps, reminiscent of the Donkey Kong Country games. This will be the first expansion for Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan since it opened in March 2021.
The expansion will also allow Universal Studios Japan to expand the park’s guest capacity. Expect to hear more news about the new Donkey Kong Country area in the coming months. Meanwhile, a teaser video of the expansion, shared by Universal Studios Japan, is available below.
Thanks to the strong partnership with Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and the many talented people at Nintendo, we are confident DONKEY KONG COUNTRY will deliver an amazing, one-of-a-kind Donkey Kong experience to fans across the globe. Through the collaboration between Nintendo, Universal Destinations & Experiences and Universal Studios Japan, we are preparing a theme park experience that will once again awe the world. I look forward to the day we can bring these newly enhanced experiences to all.
