Originally announced in August, Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster now has a launch date. The game is set to release on February 28, 2024, and will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. Developed by Nightdive Studios, known for their work on the System Shock remake as well as Turok and Quake remasters, the remaster is designed to support up to 4K resolution at 120 fps, although this won’t be the case for the Switch version. In addition, the game will feature updated lighting and atmospheric effects. Controller users will also benefit from a weapon wheel, gyro controls, and rumble features.

The original Dark Forces was released in 1995 and stars Kyle Katarn, a mercenary who joins the Rebel Alliance after defecting from the Galactic Empire. When it was released, Dark Forces was the first Star Wars first-person shooter, heavily inspired by the success of Doom.
