Final Fantasy XIV’s London Fan Festival has kicked off. The first new job for the upcoming expansion, Viper, has been revealed. Those who are familiar with Final Fantasy IX will likely see the similarities with the Warrior of Light, as seen in the trailer below, and Zidane Tribal from Final Fantasy IX. A noticeable tail on the Warrior of Light further reinforces the class’s inspiration from Final Fantasy IX. It’s going to be a physical, dual wielding class, but the weapons can combine into a two-hander, much like Zidane’s does. There’s also a Trance-like mechanic, from what we can see in the trailer. We can also finally make sense of Yoshi-P’s shirt at the Fan Festival in Las Vegas, which featured the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Clearly, he was hinting at Leonardo.
The opening keynote also gave us a more detailed look at the new town, Tuliyollal, and four areas heading to Dawntrail: Yak T’el, Urqopacha, Kozama’uka, and Shaaloani. We were also introduced to a new allied tribe called The Moblins. The team also shared images of new dungeons, and revealed the new Alliance Raid series called Echoes of Vana’diel. We then got a new trailer for the Final Fantasy XIV x Fall Guys Collaboration, which is going live in 6.51 on October 31. Yoshi-P received permission for a crossover with Final Fantasy XVI from Naoki Yoshida. You can watch the trailer for that announcement, as well as a new extended teaser for Dawntrail, below.
