Today’s Xbox Games Showcase debuted DOOM: The Dark Ages, set to launch sometime in 2025. It’s a prequel to DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal, although it’ll be the third installment in the modern DOOM series. The game is being developed by id Software and will run on the latest idTech engine. DOOM: The Dark Ages will be a single-player action FPS, focusing on the cinematic origin of the DOOM Slayer’s rage. Based on the trailer, the game takes place in a medieval setting, and all we really need to know is that DOOM Guy is getting a chainsaw shield that he can throw around like Captain America. Oh, and there’s flying, because why not?
