Xbox One gamers that received a defective launch console will be compensated with a free digital game, according to reports from those owners. Emails are being sent to those that have requested a replacement console for their defective units stating that they can choose a free digital copy from the following games: Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome or Zoo Tycoon. The games will be downloadable titles, so even those with defective optical drives on their Xbox Ones will be able to play until their replacement unit arrives.
“While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game,” a statement from Microsoft said. “We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios.”
The Xbox One launched on November 22, 2013.
