The Unsung Story Kickstarter is now live, being billed as a tactical RPG being developed by Playdek with the creator of Final Fantasy Tactics, Yasumi Matsuno, on board with the project. Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians will be a “spiritual successor in a storied line of epic tactical RPGs designed by Yasumi Matsuno,” according to the game’s Kickstarter page and will be developed for iOS, Android and PC platforms. A stretch goal of $1.8 million will land it on the PS Vita while $2.8 million will get it over to the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS handheld consoles.
Unsung Story will be set in the fantasy world of Rasfalia with the central plot focusing on the struggles of heroes who fought in the Seventy-Seven Years War between great kingdoms and empires. The game will be episodic in nature, with each episode telling the story of a hero. Battles will take place on 3D landscape and units under the players’ command will be profession based. Some of the examples of the professions were revealed on the Kickstarter page including War Mage, Ballast Knight, Polearm Knight and Aerolest.
Yasumi Matsuno is considered one of the greatest tactic game designers and has been involved with titles such as Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy XII and Tactics Ogre. The initial goal set for the project is $600,000 which we expect to be easily met.
