The Elder Scrolls Online will be playable at this year’s Gamescom event, ZeniMax Online Studios has announced. The upcoming MMORPG isn’t scheduled to be released until next year and will be available on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, no cross-platform play will be available. Details have been sparse on the title, but ZeniMax plans on updating the game with new content frequently, to keep players engaged. According to the developer, the main story to The Elder Scrolls Online will wrap up at release, but will ultimately lead into a bigger story to be revealed through updates.

The MMORPG was first announced in 2012 and is part of The Elder Scrolls franchise and is the first open-ended, multiplayer installment to the series. The game will be set on the continent of Tamriel, like other games in the franchise, and players will have the opportunity to join any of the three factions fighting over the throne of the Emperor of Tamriel. According to ZeniMax Online Studios, The Elder Scrolls Online has been in development for five years prior to its announcement in 2012.

The Elder Scrolls Online is currently in closed beta.
