Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels has been added to the Wii U Virtual Console, Nintendo has announced. Originally deemed too difficult for the North American market, Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels actually debuted in Japan as Super Mario Bros. 2 for the original Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986. It did make it to the U.S. in the past however, as part of the Super Mario All Stars collection for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and also came to the Wii’s Virtual Console in 2007. While the Super Mario All Stars version was updated with 16-bit graphics, the version on the Wii U Virtual Console sports the traditional 8-bit graphics of the original Super Mario Bros. game.
