The Steam concurrent users figure has passed the seven-million mark for the first time in the service’s history, marking a one-million concurrent user increase from a year ago. In late October, we reported that Steam had 65-million active users and it appears that the number keeps growing along with the number of concurrent users.
Undoubtedly the figure was boosted with all those watching for Steam’s Autumn Sale as well as enjoying a bit of gaming over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Even more surprising is that this is all happening while new consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are being released worldwide. All those reports of PC gaming reaching its demise with the release of the PS4 and Xbox One seem a bit absurd now don’t they?
