R-Type II is now available on mobile devices powered by Android or iOS. Priced at $1.99, R-Type II was ported by DotEmu and takes place two years after the original R-Type. The original classic shoot ’em up game was created by Irem and was originally released in 1989 in the arcade. The game later was made available on the Game Boy in 1992 in North America.
DotEmu’s port of R-Type II will feature three difficulty settings: Normal, Unlimited and Insane. Players will be able to fine-tune their visual experience with options to control filtering, scan lines and aspect ratio available. Two customizable control schemes can be picked from, a touch-only mode and a virtual D-pad. R-Type II also supports controllers on both iOS 7 and Android.
