PlayStation 4 Sales Reach 6M Worldwide

Sony has announced that PlayStation 4 sales have reached six million units worldwide as of March 2, 2014. In addition, the company also revealed that 13.7-million units of software have been sold, which means an average of 2.2 games per console. The PlayStation 4 originally released on November 15, 2013 in North America but recently went on sale in its home country of Japan on February 22. According to Sony, Japanese sales have topped 370,000 units since its launch.

Other interesting tidbits regarding the PlayStation 4 includes that 100-million shares have been captured via the DualShock 4’s Share button and over 56-million people have watched gaming sessions as spectators through Twitch. Over half of PlayStation 4 owners are subscribing to PlayStation Plus, not just for online gameplay but to take advantage of the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection lineup.

Upcoming games for the PlayStation 4 include inFAMOUS: Second Son and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.
