The Nintendo 2DS, which was released on October 12, 2013, hopes to be a big seller this holiday season for the Japanese company. To help clear up the confusion surrounding its name and how it’s different compared to the 3DS, Nintendo has released a new video clearly targeting parents explaining what the 2DS is.
Priced at $129.99, the 2DS is a budget-minded system that helps get younger gamers into the world of Nintendo without breaking the bank account. Its release coincided with the new Pokemon X and Pokemon Y games, which sold over four-million copies in just two days. The 2DS was originally announced on August 28, and at first, it seemed like a bad joke. Upon closer inspection however, the 2DS turns out to be a very enticing system, especially at its price point. Sure it’s strange that Nintendo has released a handheld without the clamshell design that made the DS so popular, but with a library of over 2,000 games across the original DS and the 3DS, the 2DS provides a lot of content at an affordable price.
