Curse of Naxxramas has been revealed as the first Hearthstone Adventure Mode. Veterans of World of Warcraft will surely recognize Naxxramas right away as the ancient necropolis that served as a base of operations for the powerful lich Kel’Thuzad. The single-player PvE Adventure will feature iconic bosses from the raid dungeon, including Maexxna, Loatheb and Patchwerk.
Players progressing through Curse of Naxxramas will get the opportunity to earn new cards, 30 in total. Once players have earned those cards, they’ll be able to use them in their Hearthstone decks right away. Some of the cards Blizzard revealed revolve around the Deathrattle mechanic, and you can preview them in the gallery below. In addition, Curse of Naxxramas will add a new game board to Hearthstone along with nine unique Class Challenges that will reward class-specific cards to players’ collections.
Curse of Naxxramas will open up over the course of five weeks with the first wing, The Arachnid Quarter, available to players for free. After that, to venture further into Naxxramas, each wing will cost either in-game gold or real money. But for those that are heavy into Arena competition, the cards being added with each wing will be available in Arena use even if you do not have them in your collection. Blizzard did not announce how much in-game gold or real money opening each wing will cost.
Curse of Naxxramas will be released for PC, Mac and iPad at the same time, though no date has been announced.
Hearthstone‘s Adventure Modes were first announced at last year’s BlizzCon event and will likely expand in the future with more Adventures. View a gallery of the new cards Blizzard has revealed so far below.
