Visions of Mana is set to release on August 29, Square Enix announced this morning. The first new entry in the long-running franchise in over 15 years, Visions of Mana will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. When it was announced at The Game Awards 2023, I was extremely excited as a fan of the Mana series. Secret of Mana was one of my favorite games growing up, and seeing something that resembles Flammie (Ramcoh?) in the latest trailer put a smile on my face.

The launch date trailer tells more about the game’s story, featuring Hinna, the newly appointed Alm of Fire, embarking on a journey to the Mana Tree to fulfill her destiny. Val, the protagonist and childhood friend of Hinna, will protect her on her journey. They will be joined by other playable characters: Careena, Morley, Palamena, and Julei. Like many previous Mana games, players will be able to choose their party of three. The trailer also shows a familiar ring menu and confirms that supporting companions, including Hinna, can assist in battle.

With its August 29 release date, Visions of Mana will have to compete with Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws, which officially launches on August 30.
